Launch of Hubert von Goisern’s Concert Ship

Preparations for Hubert von Goisern’s Linz Europa Tour West are proceeding in high gear. On Wednesday, June 4, 2008, the concert ship customized especially for this year's tour was launched at Linz Harbor.

Between June and September 2007, Hubert von Goisern and his band rode the Danube downstream to the Black Sea on their LINZ EUROPA TOUR EAST. On Friday, June 27, 2008, the next leg of this adventure—the LINZ EUROPA TOUR WEST—will be heading for the Rhine-Main-Danube Canal, with 30 concerts scheduled through the end of August. To get the ship in shape for relatively narrow waters in Western Europe, Brandner Shipping had to do some serious refitting. The end product hit the water on June 4, 2008 at Linz Harbor.
One new feature is a bow thruster for improved maneuverability. And concertgoers will be able to enjoy some tasty visual effects produced by the brand new electronic infrastructure. This year’s tour is dispensing with a separate dormitory vessel; Hubert von Goisern and his band will be bunking right on board the concert ship. That means closer quarters for the musicians, but there’ll still more than enough room for interesting encounters with other artists.
