Linz09 supports international cinema by repeating as sponsor of the Crossing Europe Award.
Isild Le Besco is this year's winner of the Crossing Europe Award for her film CHARLY (F, 2007). The 2008 European Competition in endowed with a 10,000-euro cash prize donated by Linz09. Isild Le Besco won her first Crossing Europe Award in 2005 for her debut film DEMI-TARIF (Half-Price). The French director/actress thus becomes the first two-time winner in the competition’s history.Jurors Catherine Ann Berger (Switzerland), Rastislav Steranka (Slovakia), Koen van Daele (Belgium/Slovenia), Belinda van de Graaf (The Netherlands) and Srdan Vuletic (Bosnia & Herzegovina) praised Le Besco’s “voice that is completely unique in European cinema” and her “uncompromising presentation of superb acting performances” that “leave an enduring impression on the viewer.”
