At the next Kopfstand event, Martin Heller poses the big question to Luxembourg 2007’s artistic director: “What is it exactly that makes for a successful Capital of Culture?”
Robert Garcia is a Luxembourg native born in 1955. Now, following a successful year as general coordinator of Luxembourg07, Garcia is visiting Linz to give an account of his experiences staging a year-long programme of events in the European Capital of Culture spotlight.After studying engineering and social sciences, Garcia went on to make a name for himself in Luxembourg’s culture scene, above all as initiator of cultural and media projects. From 1992 to 2003, he was a member of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg’s Parliament. While serving on the country’s Cultural Commission, he helped enact measures to improve Luxembourg’s cultural infrastructure.
