Aktienkeller | STREAM OF FORGETTING
Greek mythology tells us that one need only drink from the River Lethe in order to forget all earthly suffering. We learn from psychoanalysis, on the other hand, that we can repress what once was but not really forget it.The Aktienkeller, an extensive historical tunnel system beneath Linz’s Botanical Garden, will be the setting for artworks whose theme is the loss of private or public memory. A well-marked path conducts visitors through this wide-ranging network of passageways—some up to six meters tall—and ends up, following a spectacular ascent, in broad daylight amidst the Botanical Garden.
