The Cultural Capital's Neighbourhood of the Month*
All the different qualities that become manifest in the different neighbourhoods supplement each other and coalesce into a living web that makes Linz a functional, life-enhancing and colourful city.
When Linz gets to be European Capital of Culture in 2009 – along with Lithuania’s capital Vilnius – this means that the title will be worn by the entire city, from Auhof to Pichling. It means moreover that all the city’s neighbourhoods are invited not only to actively participate in the programme but to help shape it. For a month at a time in 2009 each of the twelve neighbourhoods will take its turn in calling the tune. In other words, in the best possible scenario each neighbourhood will be part of the project that makes 2009 such a special year for Linz.

Criteria for the project submission (.pdf)
After each round table is held, the particular neighbourhood has two months to submit projects. Accordingly, the deadlines for the individual neighbourhoods are as follows:
- Pichling/solarCity and Ebelsberg neighbourhoods: 2nd June 2008
- Bindermichl/Spallerhof/Keferfeld-Oed and Neue Heimat neighbourhoods: 15th June 2008
- The deadline for project submissions from Neustadtviertel and Froschberg was 15th February 2008.
- The deadline for project submissions from Kleinmünchen was 1st February 2008.
- The deadline for project submissions from Alte Innenstadt, Urfahr-Zentrum/Pöstlingberg, St. Magdalena/Steg and Dornach-Auhof/Katzbach was 15th April 2008.
- The deadline for project submissions from Linz Mitte and Franckviertel was 30th April 2008.
Independent juries, each of whose composition is custom-tailored to the particular neighbourhood to which it is assigned, will judge the entries. Each jury will consist of a representative of Linz Kultur, a representative of Linz09, a member of the Capital of Culture Neighbourhood of the Month project staff, a representative of another neighbourhood, a member of Linz’s freelance art and culture scene, and a delegate from the neighbourhood whose project proposals are being judged (in an advisory capacity with no vote in determining the final outcome).
The Capital of Culture Neighbourhood of the Month programme will be completely finalised by July 2008.

The Round Tables
Following the Round Tables in the precincts of Kleinmünchen and Neustadtviertel in November 2007 the Round Tables visited all of Linz’s neighbourhoods in spring 2008.
In the course of a moderated discussion forum the possibilities of getting actively involved in shaping the programme of the Cultural Capital Year as part of the project ‘The Cultural Capital’s Neighbourhood of the Month’ was discussed. The Round Table and the ensuing informal part of the evening also gave all those present plenty of opportunity either to present already existing ideas and/or projects or to establish further contacts.
